UltraVeneers are very similar to Lumineers you see advertised. UltraVeneers though are fabricated by a master ceramist and look more natural. Typically, they are what’s called “No-prep veneers” where we don’t have to contour the tooth at all. Typically this “no-prep veneers” are more like “minimal prep veneers”. Most times we don’t even have to numb because we are slightly contouring the enamel. Reason being is that we want to avoid a bulbous and un-natural look by adding MORE thickness. So in areas where, for example, a point of the tooth sticks out, we would not just want to add more thickness to that point. Thus, we want to slightly contour JUST that portion of where it protrudes. Again, this is slight and we only need about 0.2 – 0.3 mm of porcelain thickness for UltraVeneers. UltraVeneers were developed exclusively by the Atlanta Dental Spa (Dr. Boulden & Estep).
